Dr Nikola Mongey
Clinical Psychologist & CBT Therapist
With many years of experience in therapeutic work across NHS and private settings, I support children, young people, and adults using an integrative and relational approach. A significant part of my clinical experience has been within the NHS, where I have worked extensively with children and young people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma, and complex relational difficulties, as well as with adults whose early experiences continue to shape their emotional well-being and relationships.
My practice is grounded in a strong foundation of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), allowing me to combine structured, evidence-based interventions with a more exploratory, reflective, and relational way of working. I draw on a range of therapeutic models, enabling me to work flexibly and thoughtfully in response to each person’s unique needs. I have experience supporting individuals with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, phobias, low self-esteem, OCD, and trauma, as well as people going through difficult life transitions and those wishing to make sense of their experiences, relationships and sense of self as they navigate life.
I have worked across a wide range of services, including adult crisis services, inpatient settings, and community-based and specialist services for children and young people. I have also been part of specialised national and local services providing assessment, therapy, and consultation for individuals affected by trauma, alongside their families, carers, and supporting professionals. This breadth of experience informs my holistic, context-aware approach to therapy.

I work from a neuroaffirming perspective and have experience supporting individuals with neurodiverse needs, valuing difference and adapting therapy to ensure it is accessible, respectful, and collaborative. I am attentive to the wider contexts in which people live, including family relationships, culture, identity, and intersectional experiences, and how these shape meaning, coping, and a sense of self.
At the heart of my work is a strengths-based, non-judgemental and collaborative approach. I place strong emphasis on developing a safe, authentic therapeutic relationship where trust, empowerment, and collaboration are central. I aim to create a space in which you feel heard, understood, and actively involved, working together to clarify your goals, build on your strengths, and support changes that feel both meaningful and achievable.
Reaching out for psychological support can feel like a significant step. Whether you are seeking help with a specific difficulty or hoping to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences, I strive to offer a compassionate, respectful, and supportive space in which you can be supported to explore, reflect, and grow.
